Customized California Living Spaces
Studio DBL’s JP Rivera is an artist who enjoys collaboration and designing one-of-a-kind landscapes and planters for homes, lobbies, or other unique spaces.
Cold Canyon Compound
Landscaping incorporated drought-tolerant plants and art from the Berlin Wall, arranged and designed to match the art-centric intent of this rustic event property.

The process
JP works with private residential clients, restaurants, outdoor event spaces and more. He is highly collaborative and his creations are always unique and designed with exact specifications to fit perfectly into a given site and a client’s personal vision. If you have an idea of what you want but need an artist to expand and execute your vision, you’re in the right place. Read below to see more about JP’s usual process with clients.
-
It all begins with a site visit and a free-ranging discussion about how you use your space and what you'd like to change. JP will take lots of photos and may even want a bit of alone time just to dream and envision concepts. This initial site visit / discussion can usually take place within seven calendar days of your initial inquiry.
-
JP puts pen to paper and sketches out multiple concepts, combining site elements, client goals, and his own artistry. This process usually takes two weeks. Then another client meeting is scheduled where the concepts are presented and discussed. Usually one idea is chosen, possibly revised, and budgeted out.
-
Every build plan is different depending on the unique design of the custom work and any client scheduling requests. JP either executes the design himself, oversees a small crew, or brings in a specialty contractor for aspects like cement and tile.
